Whole-body cryotherapy is the most efficient if the cooling is rapid, within 3 minutes. To achieve this, the temperatures in open-top cryosaunas should range between -110°C and -170°C. In walk-in chambers, if the cooling panels are on the ceiling, -80°C to -100°C may be enough if these temperatures are measured at the shoulder level at the door. Under these conditions, -110°C makes breathing difficult even with a mask.
Short exposure protects a customer from the negative impact of extreme temperatures, including frostbite.
Individual tolerance to the cold can depend on a lot of factors: age, sex, fitness, and even skin color. Therefore, specialized training courses make sure operators know best practices and detailed safety protocols. A trained cryotherapy machine operator can tailor the temperature to the customer’s comfort level.
For first-timers, we strongly recommend starting with a milder temperature of -110°C for an open-top cryosauna and -80°C for a walk-in chamber. A trial session allows the body and mind to adapt to the extremely cold environment. For each following session, the temperatures are gradually set lower. Cryomed’s software limits session temperature in open-top cryosaunas to -170°C for extra safety.
In any case, we suggest cryopreneurs keep records for every customer with appropriate notes on treatment temperature, time and individual reactions to ensure a comfortable treatment experience and excellent results.
